Learn how easy it is to grow your own garden, and how effective it can be in creating a collective impact on our lovely Puget Sound.  One raingarden, one vegetable garden, and one cistern at a time!

Seattle Tilth - Way to Grow

6/18/2015

This month Stone Soup Gardens Chicken Coop is featured in the Seattle Tilth  Way to Grow Newsletter, and on the Seattle Tilth blog!! Emma and I were interviewed about keeping a flock of lovely ladies in the city in their 'Portrait of an Urban Farmer' feature. It's just in time for the Tilth Coop Tour!

Our coop will be included in this year's tour.  If you made it last year, you know we installed raised hugelcultur beds, showcased our massive mushroom patch, and had a food forest scavenger hunt!  This year we will be featuring our new cistern and kiwi arbor, a new paint job on the house, as well as our newly installed greywater system from washing machine to mushroom patch.  We've also installed lots of new edible plants in the yard, and would love to show you our fabulous new feathered friends.  Be sure to stop by and say hello while you take your trip on the Seattle Tilth Urban Farm and Coop Tour!

Seattle Tilth Chicken Cuddling

5/4/2015

One of Stone Soup Gardens favorite events of the year is our chicken cuddling fest at the Seattle Tilth May Plant Sale.  It's a wonderful time to bring out the ladies for a little TLC, and introduce them to a burgeoning community of urban farmers.  This year was particularly wonderful, as the weather was sunny, we had lots of friends old and new to talk with, and as usual, everyone left with a garden full of deliciousness that benefits Seattle Tilth and gardens city-wide.

Thank you Seattle Tilth for all that you do, and thanks to all that came by for a cuddle!

Harvest Fair Photos

9/16/2014

We had a wonderful time at Harvest Fair! The weather was awesome, the people were bountiful, and our birds were very busy being held and greeted by the fair goers.  What a wonderful way to celebrate harvest time.  Seattle Tilth is a great organization and has a knack for bringing the Seattle community together.  If you were able to stop by our booth at the harvest fair, thanks for coming out! If not, we hope to see you next year.

Seattle Tilth Harvest Fair, here we come!

9/5/2014

It's that fabulous time of year again!  The chickens and I always look forward to the Harvest Fair.  It is such a pleasure to connect with our great community of friends, and to meet new faces! Stop by our booth, say hello, and hold a chicken!

A Fabulous Coop Tour for All!

7/15/2014

After a robust day on Friday of finishing touches for our yard and chicken coop, we were ready to roll for the 10am start time of the Seattle Tilth Chicken Coop and Urban Farm Tour.  It was an unusual 90 degree day on Saturday, but Stone Soup Gardens had a wonderful turn out! We were leading tour groups through the garden and coop all day.  It was great to talk permaculture with so many different folks, and to have them be so engaged with the urban farm aesthetic.

A big thank you to the Tilth team who puts the event on every year.  It's a fun event to be a part of, and an exciting way to introduce people to new and old ideas about gardening, permaculture, and chickens.  Did you miss the tour?  Check out the photos below for a look at Stone Soup Gardens headquarters!
